This year the Grammy’s celebrated its 62nd award show. The Grammys are by far one of the most important nights for music. It is a moment for artist to be recognized and celebrated, although there is some controversy over this.
The Rap category had 4 subcategories: Best Rap Performance, Best Rap/Sung Performance, Best Rap Song, and Best Rap Album. Although I feel that many artists and projects were left out of the nominations there were still definitely great picks.
Best Rap Performance went to the well deserved track “Racks In The Middle” by Nipsey Hussel featuring Roddy Ricch and Hit-Boy.
Best Rap/Sung Performance went to the beautiful track “Higher” by DJ Khaled featuring Nipsey Hussle and John Legend.
Best Rap Song was a little more tricky but well deserved for “A Lot” by Jermaine Cole, Dacoury Natche, 21 Savage & Anthony White.
Best Rap Album was very disappointing went it went to IGOR by Tyler The Creator, sorry Tyler. There were definitely great bodies of work in the nominations. In fact every album nominated deserved Best Rap Album.
Nonetheless, congratulations to all the artists! You are appreciated, respected, and loved.
