It’s safe to say that Chris Tucker took home a relatively small bag for his role in the classic film.
The movie star took to Shannon Sharpe’s ‘Club Shay Shay’ this week to discuss a variety of topics, including his role in the classic hood comedy Friday. Tucker’s ‘Smokey’ character became a relic of the culture still to this day, over two decades later.
Despite the success and longevity of the film, Tucker revealed that he did not bring in much money from the classic, stating he was only paid $10,000 for his role.
“It’s one of those things—it was just a small movie. “We filmed it in 20 days. I got about $10,000 for it or whatever, I didn’t care. I wanted the opportunity.”
This now provides additional context for claims that the late John Witherspoon made some time ago on an interview with Vlad TV, stating that most actors made around $5,000 for their roles in the film. The movie is slated to have cost up to $3 million to make.
