Dr. Dre crafted an original song to serve as the score for the two-minute tribute video for the Black Mamba. The video was aired prior to the NBA All-Star game this weekend.
On Feb 15. TNT shared a video produced by Dr. Dre and the editing duo Jack Bannon and Gibson Hazard. The visuals in conjunction with the audio resulted in a “chill-inducing masterpiece,” as Sports Illustrated called it. The video was made up of a collection of Kobe’s career highlights which included his high school days, his 1998 Slam Dunk Contest victory, his fifth NBA Championship with the Los Angeles Lakers, and more. The tribute also included beautiful moments with his daughter Gianna, who was also killed in the helicopter accident.
On Feb 15. the NBA commissioner, Adam Silver announced that the All-Star MVP award was renamed in honor of the late Kobe Bryant.
