Lil Wayne’s “Tha Carter V” Doing Huge Numbers
Lil Wayne finally dropped Tha Carter V at the end of September after years in the making. First announced back in 2012, Tha Carter V has been overloaded with hype and anticipation; and the recent stream numbers and album sales show that NOLA legend still has his stamp in Hip Hop on lock.
Since Tha Carter V’s release, the album has become Weezy’s fourth No. 1 album on the Billboard 200, as well as the first artist in history to have two songs debut in the top 4 of the Hot 100; “Mona Lisa” (w/ Kendrick Lamar) and ‘Don’t Cry” (w/ XXXTENTACION).
In addition, Tha Carter V has sold 480,000 units – 140,000 of those just pure album sales. It has the second largest streaming week for an album on all platforms.
